Muhittin Böcek sent a message from prison: "Injustices will be held accountable."

Antalya Metropolitan Mayor Muhittin Böcek , who is currently in custody, reacted strongly to the accusations against him in a statement to Cumhuriyet newspaper. Böcek expressed his disapproval of the judicial process, saying, "This is the first time I've seen the law and conscience become so arbitrary."
In a message sent from prison , President Böcek stated that justice would one day be served, saying, "There will be accountability for injustices. I stand tall like the Taurus Mountains."
"I HAVE NO ACCOUNT THAT I CANNOT GIVE"
Böcek reacted to his arrest by saying, “I have seen very difficult times, I have seen pain and suffering, but this is the first time I have seen the law and conscience become so arbitrary,” and continued:
We are mayors. We know that accountability is a duty, a responsibility. Thankfully, I have no accountability that I cannot give to either Antalya or my homeland. I stand tall like the Taurus Mountains. When these difficult days are over and we are cleared, we will return to hope, to the future, and to working tirelessly for our citizens.
...We have paid all our debts within 5 years without using economic crises, fires, earthquakes, floods or pandemics as an excuse, and we do not have any outstanding debts to any institution or organization that is outdated.
I am here because I stand with our farmers, our youth, our retirees, in short, everyone who needs us, and because I am everyone's president.
I am here because I won the Antalya Metropolitan Municipality Mayorship for the second consecutive year, because I am the President of the Mediterranean Municipalities Union and the ANTAB Tourism Union, because I am the Vice President and Turkey Coordinator of Cittaslow Turkey Slow Cities, because I am the President of the World Yoruk Turkmen Municipalities Forum, because I embrace every segment of society and am a Child of the Taurus Mountain, a President for everyone.
I'm here because today is the day for those who supposedly confess, but are actually slanderers. I have faith in the judiciary. Justice will prevail sooner or later. But let no one doubt it: I will fight my entire life to ensure that all these slanderers receive a fair trial under the law. And I will never let those who committed these crimes get away with it.
